How we will achieve this
Four interconnected objectives
Build a connected ecosystem
Young African philanthropists are currently operating as isolated nodes rather than a connected network; giving generously within their own communities but invisible to peers, funders, and continental institutions doing similar work. The Generation Give Festival exists to correct this by convening these dispersed actors in one physical and relational space, where connection itself is the deliverable.
Reclaim and reframe the narrative of African philanthropy
The festival will function as a narrative-correcting platform, co-creating new frameworks for understanding African giving on its own terms, authored by the young Africans and diaspora members actually practicing it.
Establish a standing continental convening platform
No permanent infrastructure currently exists for young African philanthropists to organize collectively, set shared agendas, or recognize one another's impact. Rather than a one-off event, the Festival is conceived as a founding convening of an ongoing movement architecture through which a continental, intergenerational, cross-diaspora agenda for youth-led giving can be built and sustained over time.
Visibilize and celebrate existing impact
Many young givers across Africa and its diaspora are already creating meaningful change in their communities without recognition, resourcing, or visibility commensurate with their impact. The festival will create a dedicated platform to celebrate these individuals and initiatives, affirming that youth-led philanthropy is an active, present-day reality deserving of investment, partnership, and amplification now.
Expected Outputs
What the Festival delivers
A co-designed African Youth Philanthropy Declaration, signed by all participants, outlining shared commitments and demands.
4 fundable prototypes developed through the Action Labs, each with at least one documented partner MOU.
A public directory of 300+ young philanthropists and youth-led giving initiatives from across Africa and the diaspora.
A confirmed amount raised and distributed through the Giveathon, with institutional matching secured in advance.
